Job Prospects for Counsellors in India
Counsellors are employed by schools, colleges, hospitals and NGO Sectors. There are plenty of jobs available (1500-2000 jobs at a given time on Naukari.com) for career counsellors earning between INR 200,000 lakhs to 400,000 per annum. However, this income bracket is mainly for career counsellors, who are generally not trained or skilled in counselling. A trained and skilled counsellor, however, has much wider prospects as they have a very wide range of issues and problems that they can deal/help with in addition to career counselling. This could make their potential annual earnings, in private practice @ INR 250-500 per hour, making an approximate annual income to range between INR 500,000 to 10,00,000.
